A WIDE VARIETY OF SUPPORT SERVICES HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED OVER THE YEARS TO FACILITATE SMOOTH RUNNING OF CH PROGRAM ACTIVITIES THAT HELP STUDENTS COPE BOTH IN SCHOOL AND OUT.
Support services have been an integral part of our success. The focal point of all our activities are based on the needs of sponsored students and the support services are developed to meet these needs. These services range from home visits to help students & their families, to providing targeted coaching for weaker students to improve their exam results. All Support services attribute to good monitoring practice of the organisation.
"WHEN I NEEDED SOMEONE TO TALK TO, CHILDREN'S HOPE WAS THERE TO OFFER MUCH NEEDED ADVICE.
I'VE MADE BETTER DECISIONS BECAUSE OF IT"
Single mother of three children.
Our education programme is not only confined to academic institutions. We believe in a multi-disciplinary approach to development and that means working with other recognized organisations to enrich learning skills for our students. For example, our partnership work with English Exchange gives our students access to a different method of learning.
Sponsored students who have undertaken science subjects and have produced outstanding results are offered the support of our Special Scheme when they finish school. This includes receiving regular supervision and access to specialised coaching facilities designed for students’ intending to pursue professional courses such as medicine and engineering.
The academic progress of each sponsored child is monitored by an allocated member of staff known as a ‘Referred Person’. They organise regular meetings to discuss students’ concerns and queries about their academic performances. These meetings are also useful to discuss socio-psychological issues affecting their studies.
Sponsoring a child’s education involves close partnership between their families and Children’s Hope staff. Home visits develop friendship and understanding of any concerns that a student or their family may have. All home visits are made unannounced to truthfully assess at-home living conditions and to ensure students are engaged in homework to support their studies.
